Who manages the Crown Land around the opal fields?
The Lightning Ridge Area Opal Reserve manages Crown Land across Lightning Ridge and surrounding opal fields. We are a local, community-led organisation working directly with miners, residents, and NSW Government agencies.
Who should I contact about road access or track conditions?
If the road or track runs through Crown Land in the opal fields, our team can help. We manage access routes, fire trails, and maintenance updates across the reserve.
Can I donate to support specific projects?
Yes. Donations support practical projects such as machinery maintenance, road repairs, fire trail upkeep, and the Wandella Education and Research Hub. All contributions directly support work in the opal fields.
Are you part of Council or NSW Government?
No. We work with Council and NSW Government, but we are a separate community-managed organisation responsible for on-ground Crown Land management in the opal fields.
